此种技术在电机控制中的应用，主要表现为可以按照已经设定好的流程来进行降压启动。主要有以下两种模式。

在具有较轻负载的状态下，通过限流启动方式来控制电机的启动电流，对输出电压进行设定来保证其从零开始逐渐提升，在输出电流达到限定数值之后保持此数值不变来继续提升电压到额定数值，从这样就从而实现电机运转速度的不断提升。通过此种方式可以实现对启动电流的灵活调整，且不会对电网电压造成不利影响。但是此种方式对压降数值的控制难度较大且增加了启动过程的负载型。
