电气化学组件通常用于测量各种有毒和无毒气体,例如:一氧化碳、氧气和氢气。它们基于化学氧化与化学还原的主要方法,并产生与被测气体成比例的电流。大多数组件均由三个电极组成:工作极(WE)、计数器极(CE)和基准极(RE)。WE氧化或者还原目标气体,然后产生一个与气体浓度成比例关系的电流。CE平衡所产生的电流,而RE则维持工作电极电位以保证正确的工作区。电气化学组件往往连接恒电位器电路。这种恒电位器电路向CE提供电流(并在要求时偏置)。它让WE保持与RE相同的电位,并使用一个跨阻抗放大器(TIA)把WE的输出电流转换为电压。
与许多传感器一样,电气化学传感器具有对温度的依赖性。为了实现较佳性能,需测量这种组件的温度。根据组件的性能与温度的对比曲线图(参见数据表),进行正确的温度校正。
